Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you’ve been enjoying your weekend as much as I have mine. It’s finally felt like the start of spring, which we marked with our first trip to the beach (though I wasn’t brave enough to jump in the water for a quick dip!). We’ve also been prepping our bathroom for the renovations which are due to start this Wednesday, and had a friend of mine visiting from New Zealand. It’s during these easy weekends that I rely on a small stable of outfits that I know will work every time. This simple combination of an oversized sweater + denim mini + pointed toe shoes is probably my favourite spring uniform (there’s four ‘looks’ I have on rotation), as it’s the perfect balance of my cold and warm weather favourites.

Wearing Joseph sweater, ASOS denim skirt (on sale!), Country Road slingbacks (old but similar here), Sometime Niko Niko bag (luxe option here), Mejuri dome ring

One of my simple style rules has to do with proportions. If I’m wearing something loose on top, then I’ll balance it out with something fitted on the bottom, and vice versa. The sweater is from Joseph – a sale find I picked up earlier this year – and unsurprisingly it has become one of the most versatile and most worn items in my closet over the last few months. Given I’m a sucker for anything in a neutral hue, it’s one of those items that seems to pair perfectly with just about everything that I own, and it’s cosy to boot.

The caramel denim mini on the other hand is a newer addition to my wardrobe. I tend to buy a lot out of season, to take advantage of the Northern Hemisphere sales, and this caught my eye when doing a little late night window shopping one evening. Best part is, I managed to snag it for 50% off. What really caught my eye with this denim skirt was the colour. It feels fresh, and is a great alternative to the washed black and bright white denim skirts I wear on regular basis during the warmer months.

And finally, we have the accessories. I love pairing this kind of outfit with a pointed toe shoe – whether it’s a heel or a cute flat like the ones I’m wearing with this look. To me, it adds a layer of elegance and visually it elongates the legs. To play up those warm brown tones, I opted to wear my Sometime Niko Niko bucket bag, which turned out to be the perfect complement.
