5 Outfits Inspiring Me Lately

Aside from relying on my style uniform to get ready each morning, I’ve also been looking a lot to PinterestLINK for a fresh take on how I can wear some of my old autumn/winter favourites. Unsurprisingly, it’s been the simple, minimal styling that I’ve been really drawn to. Classic, tailored basics can be incredibly effective, especially when paired together in the right proportions. There’s five outfits that have been inspiring me lately, so I thought I’d share them with you and break down what I like about each look.

It was this first outfit (featured above) that made me realise my wardrobe was missing a double breasted blazer. I’ve worn outfits not too dissimilar to this in the past, but it was that juxtaposition of tailoring and the relaxed nature of the t-shirt that make this look stand out. I love the proportions, too. A super skinny silhouette on the lower half, and an oversized silhouette on top. And while it’s probably just a small detail to most, the slip on mules are an unexpected touch, and I just love that large buckle on the toe.

The second outfit I love for the sheer simplicity of it. It’s very reminiscent of an outfit I wore last year that stands out to me as a moment when I felt like I’d uncovered my true personal style. Black skinny jeans are something that I added to my closet only recently, so I’ve been trying to come up with some interesting ways to wear them. Admittedly, this is the simplest combo out there, but I think the richness of the camel coat is what elevates this look and really takes it up a notch.

Neutrals have been a big trend this season, and I’ve been thinking about how to incorporate the neutrals trend into my outfits without going full blown. This outfit strikes the perfect balance of safari-style neutrals and classic neutrals like denim. Cosy knit sweaters are what I essentially live in when it’s cold, and I love the pairing of strappy sandals with straight leg jeans. It probably seems at odds with wearing a knit sweater, but the elegance of the shoes makes the whole outfit look more refined.

Continuing that love of neutrals, I really liked the way this outfit came together for more of a literal take on the trend. The crew neck sweater with the puffed rib detail around the neckline feels really special, and it’s a reminder for me to style up my trousers with sneakers more regularly. Then there’s that coat. Outerwear is such a large element of your outfit’s style story during the colder months, and I’m really drawn to the lighter hue that Andi’s has.

I thought I’d end this on a more feminine note. It’s interesting to see how my style has shifted away from wearing skirts and dresses daily to relying more on trousers and jeans. I talk a lot about balancing out proportions, but this outfit throws the fashion rule book out the window. It’s oversized on oversized, but it looks darn cosy. I like that Leandra is actually layering the sweater over a picnic dress, which gives two looks in one, and it just feels effortlessly chic.
