An autumn outfit idea

A quick little outfit post from me, to share one of the outfit combinations I’ll have on repeat over autumn. Stripes are continuing to reign supreme, which suits me as it’s a simple way to break up an outfit where I’m solely wearing “blocks” of colours; timeless too.

Wearing Celine stripe knit (similar more affordable option here); Reformation skinny jeans; Andersons belt; Mansur Gavriel coat (similar here); About Arianne heels; Chloe darryl tote; Linjer watch (25% off jewellery with code ‘JAMIE’)

I suspect that the next few months will see a lot of iterations on this look. Switching out the stripe knit for a plain one, or something with texture. Maybe it even has a high neck. Opting for a straight leg trouser or jean over a skinny legged style. Wearing a shoe with an almond toe instead of a squared off point (but still with the ever important low block heel!). Finished off with a long duster length coat, in a complementary tone. It’s not rocket science, nor is it groundbreaking, but it feels effortless, and not like I’m trying to project an image that isn’t “me”.

To run through the individual pieces… the knit is a pre-loved find from Celine (Hedi era); Super soft merino wool, and I love the buttons on the shoulder. It’s what makes me define it as an elevated basic as the level of detail (and quality of materials) is above what I’d typically be looking for in a simple Breton stripe top.

The jeans I’ve had a good three or four years now. They’re from Reformation, and appear to be one of their core styles. I found this style ran large, so would recommend sizing down one from your usual jean size in other brands – they’re incredibly stretchy. I got mine taken up and in as the inseam is very generous, and will typically do a little cuff at the ankle when I want a cropped look. Because these have so much stretch, they’re very comfortable to wear; almost like throwing on a pair of leggings.

Another pre-loved find is the coat, which is a few years old from Mansur Gavriel. I searched high and low to track this down in my size, and love it so much that I subsequently also purchased it in the pale beige. Because of the length, I find it works best when I wear a shoe that has some height to it. The quality is beautiful, and the low placement of the buttons is something that’s unique to these coats in my closet. It’s a shame MG don’t seem to do apparel anymore; on my list to “track down” is one of their merino or cashmere sweaters. They look gorgeous!

Finally let’s touch on the accessories. All ones you’ve seen me sport many times before. The ballerina pumps with the low heel which I find instantly elevate an outfit (figuratively and literally). These I would buy in another colour in a heartbeat as the quality is sensational. Buttery smooth leather, and I never get blisters wearing them. My belt is from Andersons and is probably one of the best accessories purchases I’ve made. It’s held up impeccably without any noticeable warping to the leather. My bag is the Chloe Darryl Tote, a sale purchase from Cettire which I love the look of and it’s great as a throw it all in and go tote, though I do wish it had some sort of interior pocket. It’s worth noting that the leather is quite soft, so you may be able to see that the leather strips which hang down from the straps flare out slightly. Quality-wise, the leather is top notch and doesn’t have a single scratch, but it’s hard not to be disappointed when the wear and tear affects the overall “shape” and silhouette of the bag.

Thanks Miki! And I totally agree – such a simple way to add some fun into a minimal outfit 🙂
