Four Trends to Try

I have a hard enough time as it is trying to keep up with the trends. Generally, I’ll avoid them as they go against the grain of my overall wardrobe philosophy, but every now and then I’ll come across a trend that naturally fits my personal style. It’s even better if I’m able to shop my wardrobe to pull it off. So today, I wanted to share four trends to try that you might already have the items for in your wardrobe right now.

Wearing Uniqlo U t-shirt (alternative here), MVN faux leather jacket (old but love this option and this is a great luxe option), Whyte Valentyne leopard skirt (sold out but this is cute and I adore this leopard skirt), Everlane V heels (similar here), ABLE satchel, Reliquia earrings (also here), Mejuri necklace, Linjer petite watch

Leopard Print

My favourite of the four trends, I’m partial to a classic print that doesn’t date, and I was thrilled to see that animal print – or more specifically, leopard print – has been a major trend for the seasons ahead. There’s two ways I like to incorporate a bit of leopard print into my wardrobe. Firstly, as the hero of my outfit, like you’ll see above. Here, I’ve opted for a leopard print skirt and kept the rest of my look quite simple. It’s an easy way to incorporate a printed piece if you’re generally only used to wearing neutrals. The second way is through accessories, like a pair of leopard print flats or a leopard printed bag. It adds a touch of whimsy without feeling too loud or in your face.

Houndstooth

If you’ve had a chance to see my recent post, then you’ll know that I’m thrilled to see a lot more Houndstooth around the shops as of late. For me, it’s very nostalgic as my mum had a couple of incredible houndstooth jackets that she wore a lot, so the print always reminds me of her. Again, it’s a classic, and I’d wear it similarly to wearing leopard print. I have a fabulous houndstooth robe style coat which is a major statement maker in itself, and has been a game changer in terms of my spring style.

Lady-Like

I noticed a pretty huge nod towards lady-like silhouettes on the runway, and I love being able to incorporate more feminine pieces into my outfits. I’d say that this is probably one of the easier trends to style from your existing wardrobe, especially if you’re like me and have a penchant for pleated skirts (like this one or this one). To balance out more delicate elements of the outfit, I’ll juxtapose those elegant items with something more relaxed, such as an oversized sweater worn with a pleated skirt.

Camel-Toned Hues

If I had to pick, I’d say that camel-toned hues is one of the biggest trends for the season ahead, especially if you’re living in the Northern Hemisphere. And, I’m loving that injection of rich warm hues into my own closet, of creamy caramels and deep chocolate tones. As someone who leans towards a streamlined and neutral colour palette, it’s a nice way to make your wardrobe feel refreshed without stepping to far out of your comfort zone. I personally tend to prefer tonal looks that see these camel-toned hues paired together, usually offset with some washed black denim, or a white skirt.

If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, there’s a new video up on my YT channel featuring how I would style each of these four trends. Personally, I think the first look which I’ve featured in this post is probably my favourite…

Which of these four trends is your favourite for the season ahead?
